Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 17 September 2026

These terms apply to everyone who uses MatchMyMarketer. We've tried to keep them plain and readable. In short: MatchMyMarketer is a matching platform. We help UK businesses find independent freelance marketers. We are not a marketing agency and we don't carry out the marketing work ourselves.

There are shared terms below, then specific sections for marketers and businesses.

1. Who we are

MatchMyMarketer ("we", "us") is a UK-based online platform operated by Danielle Newstead. You can contact us at matchmymarketer@gmail.com.

By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.

2. What MatchMyMarketer does (and doesn't do)

  • We provide a platform that helps businesses discover and connect with freelance marketing professionals.
  • We facilitate introductions and matching. We are not a party to any contract between a business and a marketer.
  • Marketers on the platform are independent freelancers. They are not employees, agents or representatives of MatchMyMarketer.
  • We do not provide the marketing services ourselves and we are not a marketing agency.
  • Profiles are reviewed before they appear on the platform. Reviewing a profile is not a formal vetting, accreditation or background-checking process, and it is not a recommendation or endorsement.
  • Businesses are responsible for deciding whether a marketer is suitable for their requirements.
  • Marketers are responsible for deciding whether they are suitable and qualified to take on a brief.
  • We do not guarantee that a match will result in work, or that a business will receive a match at all.
  • We do not guarantee marketing results, business results, leads, sales, website traffic, followers, rankings or any other outcome.
The business and the marketer agree scope, pricing, deadlines, deliverables, payment arrangements and any other terms of the work directly between themselves.

3. Your account

  • You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it up to date.
  • You must be at least 18 and, where you're acting for a business, authorised to do so.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account.
  • Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account.
  • One person or business should not run multiple accounts to get around limits or restrictions.

4. Acceptable use

Our full Acceptable Use & Community Rules form part of these terms. In summary, you must not:

  • Impersonate another person or business.
  • Submit fake, misleading or speculative briefs or profiles.
  • Misrepresent your experience, qualifications, location or previous work.
  • Spam, harass or send inappropriate or abusive communications.
  • Misuse personal or business information obtained through the platform.
  • Scrape, harvest or bulk-extract platform data.
  • Upload content you don't have the rights to use.
  • Attempt to bypass platform safeguards, security or payment arrangements.
  • Use the platform for anything unlawful.

5. Messaging between users

  • Messages sent through the platform should remain professional and relevant.
  • Information you receive through messaging may only be used for the purpose of discussing and carrying out the work.
  • Spam, harassment and repeated unwanted contact are not allowed.
  • We may investigate reports of serious misuse and may review message content where it is necessary and proportionate to do so — for example to investigate a report, prevent fraud or meet a legal obligation.

6. Reviews and testimonials

  • Only submit reviews based on your genuine, first-hand experience.
  • Don't post reviews in exchange for payment or other incentives, and don't post reviews about your own business or a competitor.
  • We may remove reviews that are fraudulent, abusive, defamatory, unrelated or otherwise in breach of these terms.
  • We don't independently verify every review and we don't guarantee that reviews are accurate or complete — they are the opinions of the people who wrote them.

7. Intellectual property and confidentiality

  • The MatchMyMarketer name, branding, site design and platform content belong to us and may not be copied or reused without permission.
  • You keep ownership of the content you upload (profiles, briefs, portfolio examples, messages) and you give us permission to host and display it as needed to run the platform.
  • You must have the rights to anything you upload, including portfolio examples and client work.
  • Ownership of the intellectual property in work a marketer produces for a business is a matter for the agreement between them.
  • Both sides should treat non-public information shared through the platform as confidential and only use it for the purpose it was shared.

8. Terms for marketers

  • You must provide accurate information about your experience, services, location and capabilities.
  • You are an independent freelancer. MatchMyMarketer does not employ you, and we are not your agent.
  • You are responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, insurance, registrations and other legal and business obligations.
  • Only accept briefs you are genuinely capable of completing.
  • Being matched to a brief does not guarantee work or income.
  • You agree your own prices, scope, deliverables and deadlines directly with businesses.
  • Treat business information confidentially and don't misuse anything you learn through the platform.
  • Don't spam, harass or repeatedly contact businesses inappropriately.
  • Don't misrepresent yourself, your experience, qualifications or previous work, and make sure you have the rights to any portfolio examples you upload.
  • We may suspend or remove marketer accounts for serious or repeated breaches of these terms.

Marketer subscription

  • Marketer membership is currently free while we build business demand. If we introduce paid membership in future, we'll tell you clearly beforehand and nothing will be charged without your agreement.
  • The trial does not require a card. You'll be told clearly before any payment is taken.
  • There is no minimum term and no lock-in — you can cancel at any time from your account settings or by emailing us.
  • When you cancel, your membership runs to the end of the period you've already paid for and then stops. We don't refund part-months unless the law requires it or we agree otherwise.
  • If we change the subscription price, we'll tell existing members in advance and you can cancel before it takes effect. Any founding rate we've promised you will be honoured on the terms it was offered.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't store your full card details.

9. Terms for businesses

  • Using MatchMyMarketer to post a brief and receive matches is free for businesses.
  • You must provide accurate information in your profile and briefs, and your marketing requirements must be genuine.
  • You are responsible for deciding whether a marketer is suitable for your needs, including any checks, references or insurance requirements that matter to you.
  • We don't guarantee you'll receive a suitable match, or that a marketer will achieve a particular result.
  • You agree scope, pricing, deadlines, deliverables and payment directly with the marketer, and you're responsible for paying them in line with that agreement.
  • We are not responsible for payment disputes between you and a marketer, unless MatchMyMarketer has directly processed the payment in question.
  • Treat marketer information and contact details appropriately and in line with data protection law.
  • Don't spam, harass or misuse marketers, and don't ask a marketer to do anything unlawful.
  • Don't use the platform to obtain free work, ideas or proposals without a genuine intention to engage a marketer.
  • Respect marketers' intellectual property and confidentiality.
  • We may restrict or remove businesses that misuse the platform.

10. Disputes about the work

Because the contract for marketing work is between the business and the marketer, any dispute about that work — quality, scope, deadlines or payment — should be dealt with between the two of you in the first instance.

We can look into misuse of the platform, and where appropriate we may investigate, mediate informally, issue warnings, restrict features, suspend or remove accounts. We can't adjudicate commercial disputes or enforce payment between users.

11. Suspension, restriction and termination

  • You can close your account at any time from your settings or by emailing us.
  • We may suspend, restrict or remove an account where a user breaches these terms, misuses the platform, provides misleading information, spams other users, behaves inappropriately, or where we're required to by law.
  • Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond. For serious issues we may act immediately.
  • If your account ends, these terms stop applying except for the parts that are meant to survive (such as confidentiality, intellectual property and liability).

12. Changes to the platform and these terms

MatchMyMarketer is actively developed, so features may be added, changed, paused or removed over time. We may update these terms to reflect how the platform works or to meet legal requirements. Where changes are significant we'll give reasonable notice, for example by email or an on-site notice. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you're using the platform as a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.

Subject to that:

  • We provide the platform with reasonable care and skill, but we can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.
  • We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, work, conduct or solvency of any business or marketer you meet through the platform — they are independent of us.
  • We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings, loss of opportunity or indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform.
  • Where we are liable to a business user, our total liability in connection with the platform is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100.

14. Reporting concerns

If you come across spam, an inappropriate message, a fake profile or brief, misleading information, harassment or any other misuse, please tell us using the report an issue form or email matchmymarketer@gmail.com. Include as much detail as you can. We'll acknowledge reports and investigate proportionately.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
